GinQuila Anejo Single Barrel

Single Barrel Extended Aged Version of GinQuila Reposado, Winner of Double Gold at 2021 SIP Awards!!

GinQuila Anejo Single Barrel gin rested in tequila barrels for 1-3 years, hand selected and bottled from a single barrel

DESCRIPTION

GinQuila Anejo Single Barrel is our GinQuila Reposado aged for between 1-3 years and bottled at 92.6 proof, hand numbered.  Barrel #4 as pictured above was aged for 22 months in a former tequila barrel before bottling.

PROCESS

To create GinQuila, we infuse fresh, hand selected ingredients into our corn base spirit for at least seven days.  These ingredients include fresh papaya, lemon zest, orange zest, lime zest, grapefruit zest, arbol peppers, chipotle peppers, fresh thyme, cinnamon and juniper berries.  This infusion is then cold distilled at 60F, proofed down to barrel strength, then rested in former tequila barrels for between 1 to 3 years before bottling from an individual barrel.

TASTING NOTES

The aromas are reminiscent of gin, including subtle juniper, earthy botanicals and citrus with vanilla, cinnamon and oaky tequila.  The taste is similar to GinQuila Reposado, but more intense and with more oak and agave character.  Upon the first taste, spice hits the tongue first, and then it shifts completely as it opens up with notes of lemon, butterscotch and creamy vanilla, all giving a distinct sense of oaky reposado tequila.  As these notes fade, the botanical gin notes come back into focus and then it leaps to a complex finish including dark cocoa and licorice elements.

Quite different from what many have come to expect from barrel aged gins, GinQuila Anejo Single Barrel is as versatile and even more nuanced than GinQuila Reposado.  Ideally drank neat, or with fresh ruby red grapefruit juice, soda and citrus garnish.
